In Katatori attacking, it is important for the
aggressor to grab the lapel with force and a firm grip.
In another more realistic method of practice,
the uke should use the grip as a strike by, hitting the nage in the shoulder with the palm
and automatically grasping the shoulder lapel. In street attacks, the predator often stuns
the opponent first with a strike - then disables movement with a grab. This readies the
victim for the agressor to strike with the other hand or with the feet, as in a kick to
the abdomen.
