Undo
Sayo Undo exercise has been described
technically as a lateral swing. It's practice has an emphasis in the shifting of balance
from the one-point or center and by
bending the knees and using the hips for power and momentum.
Sometimes sayo-undo is referred to as an entering
exercise used in techniques such as kokyunage, because of the it's nearly linear entrance
at the start of the technique.
Morihiro Saito, Shihan and
world reknown for his superior technical Aikido expertise, has pointed
out that sayo-undo is used in Kokyuho execution.
